No matter who a person voted for, it must be admitted that this is truly a momentous, and historic occassion.

Could there still be hope for mass humanity within humans?

Aw, I'm just being silly now.

well, since im European, I guess I shouldn't really care that much... but I do! I have followed American politics (and to a lesser extent, world politics in general) all my life. And while I don't believe that Obama is some kind of second coming, I think you (americans) made the only sane choice, in electing this man. In my eyes, Bush/Cheney was a disgrace, not only to america, but to the world. And while McCain might not have been as bad as those two. It was most def time for a change. And being an agnostic, Sarah Palin scared the crap outta me, with all that christian rhetoric. Mixing religion and politics is crazy in my eyes, and she is no better than a psycotic islamic fundamentalist, spouting off poison from some ancient fable, and believing that they have an undisputed truth on their side.

So GOOD JOB AMERICA.... let's hope Obama proves himself worthy of your votes.

I voted for Chuck Baldwin (for his conservative fiscal plan) but I could not help but feel all warm inside when I watched Obama's rousing victory speech. This is indeed history in the making and regardless of political affiliation, this is a huge step forward for this beleaguered country and hopefully the world. For someone with a world view, I find it pleasing to see the rest of the world for once happy with something Americans have done in the last eight years.

Yep, gotta agree with with TWC. Also, I feel people show their true identity in times of crisis and adversity. McCain showed his true identity during this election, and it wasnt pretty. He sold out to the religious right, and ran an extremely negative, nasty campaign.

I wouldnt like a man like that as a teacher, or as a boss. Let alone as leader of the free world. Cant be trusted.

There still is Apartheid. It's in Israel.

And being an atheist, I just have to say that 'god' is NOT great. 'god' is a fairytale magical creature, made up long long ago to keep people scared and in line, and to attach them all to a group, so you can have power and influence over them.

That's not an opinion either.

:)

Congrats to Obama but, let's not celebrate yet. He's yet to be tested. Let's see what he does. Getting any minority president just for the sake of having one is not wise. A good minority candidate is what is needed and that is still the question hanging over Obama's head. Just like Clinton talked "moderate" (I hate that "term") but, had to be forced to be so, so might Obama show a different face after he takes office...but, Obama has no Republican congress to balance him out and reign him in. I hope he doesn't come up with an excuse to get out of a middle class tax cut like Clinton did. I hope he doesn't reestablish the welfare state...and I hope his health care plan isn't just a way to make me pay for the 500 lb fat guy down the street to get a tummy tuck just because he's too lazy to get off the couch and/or too weak willed to put down the big mac. I hope my 53 year old .38 spl doesn't get called an "assault weapon" and get banned. If Obama can resist such socialist urges then I will admit he's an improvement over Bush...but, in the end both Democrat and Republican are controlled by the old money......and I don't think God is the problem...the way God is exploited by many religions is the problem......I didn't see too much wrong with Palin...the media bias against her was what was wrong...

Yes. It would be a tragedy if you had to live without a gun.

If Obama can resist such socialist urges

Only in America could healthcare and gun control be considered "socialist".

and I don't think God is the problem...the way God is exploited by many religions is the problem......

Yeah, it's unfair to blame the big guy when he didn't even show up. Not once.

I didn't see too much wrong with Palin...

Other than her being a dim-witted moose-hunting psycho?

People didnt vote for Obama BECAUSE he's a minority: People voted for Obama DESPITE him being a minority candidate, because he's by far the best candidate that was running. You could already tell in the early EARLY debates that this guy has the brains to do well. Obviously, he can't do it alone, which is why he's picking an experienced staff, and hopefully they will deal with the problems ahead accordingly. Gawd knows the old experienced white guys of the old administration failed miserably on each and every subject, so he cant do much worse, can he!?

BTW, if Obama wouldnt have been a minority, but a white guy, this election would have already been in the bag months ago. Smart young charismatic white guy vs dummy old white guy: yeah... that will be a hard choice(!)

People are all treating Obama like he's in the special olympics or something, cause he's black. SO!? He's plainly the best candidate on the ticket. Hell, he's probably one of the very best presidential candidates EVER, when you look at how he's connecting and inspiring people, and he has shown himself pretty smart.

People around the world aren't happy 'cause he's a black president'. People are happy cause you now seem to have elected a smart, decent, reasonably president who won't be bombing their houses without very good reason. People are happy cause it seems very clearly that Obama was just the right choice to make.

About the weapon-law: Why not just register/limit bullets/ammo!?

Sure, you can have your shotgun: bullets? We'll be registering those and if they end up in someone's property or body, you're going to jail and your weapon-privileges get evoked. I'm sure there are now ways to 'mark' certain ammo, arent there?

About 'God'. No it's not 'his' fault. 'He' doesnt exist. 'He' is made up. 'God' isnt real. Just THINK about it. Logically, with reason, rationally, with the brain 'God' gave you, and supposedly wants you to use.

Now, when we're talking about RELIGION, there isn little wrong with it (unless you take it all too literally). Religion is meant as a guideline to be a good person. You can take the lessons learned in your holy book, and get from that what you want. And you're right, often religious is ABUSED by some for their own agenda. Not just terrorists btw.

Palin was a hockeymom. Nothing wrong with hockeymoms, but Palin just isnt fit to be president. Apart from the fact she's a bit nutty, and the fact that she's a bit of an idiot, she just doesnt seem like this would be a good leader for the free world. Likeability doesnt mean you make a good president; you gotta have some brains, dignity, rationale, as well.

McCain made a huge mistake by picking her, just so he can get the conservative religious right vote, and maybe pick up some women-voters because Hillary was now out. What he should have done was pick a young, smart charismatic guy, as competition against Barack Obama. I'm glad he didnt.
