Latest a movie can be a "Period Peice"?

Recommended Posts

What decade?

Is World War 2 the cutoff? Anything post WW 2 isn't a period film anymore?

But I'm sure a lot of people would consider Ip Man 2 a period film even though it was the 1950s.

Whats your take?

I think most people's definition is something that takes place either in a historically important era or just something set in a time 50+ years or so ago. To me it is a film set in another period where that specific time setting is integral to the story. So Boogie Nights is a period piece to me, just to give an example.
