VICE takes a second look at Death Match wrestling in America. Last time they visited the Combat Zone Death-Match  promotion. This time they talk to a Wrestler, who is trying to promote it as performance art. Wether thats to get by the many legal problems companies like these run into?. Or to avoid the many bans this kind extreme no holds barred wrestling encounter?. Franco B, is a performance artist who many art critics raved about, I'm not sure they would have said the same thing, had he done the same Wrestling arena. Never got into this style of ProWrestling, that the Japnese/popularized really pushed back in the 90's.

Caught some WWE wrestling for the first time in a while last night. Seemed kind of silly how Roman Reigns, Drew Mcintyre and Seth Rollins are all duking it out considering how they have a similar style/appearance.

But at the same time when I think about it, Im sure this happened in the 80s as well, with the look of their time. A couple of blonde mullets and oily orange physiques going at it.

Its just the trend of the times. Seems the darker characters are really dominating right now, perhaps influenced by Undertaker's presentation back when.

Ivelisse, Joey Ryan, Thunder Rosa (Kobra Moon) and El Hijo del Fantasma (King Cuerno) have been granted their release. The class-action lawsuit and Cuerno's separate lawsuit will be dropped as part of the settlement as well. It is also assumed El Texano Jr. will stay with AAA after withdrawing his lawsuit earlier in the month while El Hijo del Fantasma left AAA this month.

Former pro and sumo wrestler Koji Kitao has passed away at age 55. He was the only sumo wrestler to have not won a tournament after reaching the level of Yokozuna as he was kicked out of sumo at age 24 after fighting with the stable master and his wife.  In 1990, he joined NJPW where he debuted by beating Bam Bam Bigelow in the Tokyo Dome but was later fired after fighting with Riki Choshu over booking. SWS soon hired him but soon fired him after a couple of matches with Earthquake John Tenta. Kitao agreed to job the first match but wanted a different outcome the second match. That match soon fell apart when he began shooting, kicked the referee and yelled "Pro wrestling is fake!" on a mic. He later became a black belt in Karate and joined UWFi but only lasted two matches after an incident that saw Nobuhiko Takada knock him out with a kick to the head. He later won a trios title with Mochizuki and Nobukazu Hirai in WAR. Kitao also did three mma matches losing to Pedro Octavio and Mark Jones but beating future WWE talent Nathan Jones.

"John Oliver Calls WWE 'Morally Subterranean,' Slams Vince McMahon Over Wrestlers' Health Issues" - From https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/john-oliver-calls-wwe-morally-subterranean-slams-vince-mcmahon-1198437

"During his main story segment, he went on a lengthy rant against the organization for what he argued was a lack of concern about its athlete's health and long-term health care."

I was a wrestling fan for a couple of years back when "wrestling was splintered into fiefdoms around the country, all of which had their own broadcasts."  My favorite was Peter Maivia, the maternal grandfather of The Rock.  Peter had a small role in You Only Live Twice, and died a premature death at age 45.  In an interview, Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson said that the character design of Maui in the Disney film Moana was derived from photographs of Peter Maivia.  (Wikipedia)

At last night's RAW, Stephanie McMahon has announced that the main event, pitting Ronda Rousey, Becky Lynch, and Charlotte Flair against each other will now be a Winner Takes All match. That means whoever wins will be both the Raw AND SmackDown Women's Champion.

Finn Balor has warned Bobby Lashley that the "Demon" will be coming to WrestleMania and take the Intercontinental Championship from Lashley.

Dave Bautista sent a final message to Triple H as if Triple H loses at WrestleMania, HHH is done as an in-ring competitor.

Crazy highlight involving all three 'Mania main eventers getting "arrested" and the chaos hat ensued backstage

His contract will be up in July, but it may look like Rhyno may be leaving WWE after that contract expires.

Despite their rivalry on screen, Drew McIntyre actually praised Roman Reigns in a recent interview. The two will clash at 'Mania this Sunday
“It’s wild,” Drew said of the match with Reigns. “You know, I’ve been back on Monday Night RAW for 10 months now and I’m fighting Roman Reigns, the #1 guy, returning from his illness in his first big singles match at WrestleMania. It’s pretty incredible, it’s a great opportunity and a show of faith by the company, in my ability now, and I’m very, very excited to give the world a performance they won’t forget.”

Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake is the final inductee this year to the WWE Hall of Fame. He joins Degeneration X, Harlem Heat, The Hart Foundation, Torrie Wilson, and The Honky Tonk Man.

Tenille Dashwood (aka Emma) has left ROH and declared herself a free agent.

ROH meanwhile has signed the tag team Sons of Savagery and female wrestler Maria Manic, who has most notably worked for Shine and CZW.

Teruaki Kanemitsu and Michael Elgin have left NJPW. Kanemitsu returned to the ring this winter after a cervical spine injury and is probably done with pro wrestling. Elgin looks to be AJPW bound after mutually parting ways with NJPW.

A tag match between Kagetsu, Hazuki & Jenny Rose and Stella Grey, Sumie Saki & Hana Kimura has been added to the NJPW/ROH G1 Supercard.
