Someone who runs a retail store told me.

I presume the people pressing the slips just automatically put that square hole in?  Not sure about that one.

I think this might be it?

I have never seen a security tag like that in my life. Is that just a UK thing?

Ok, it is still odd that 88 Films would have chosen a design like that for a security tag if these were only meant to be printed as an incentive to get people to pre-order the movie through their website. Odd too that neither Killer Constable nor Masked Avengers are designed that way. I examined the cases that came with the movies that I received and it is different than the one in the picture (besides that being a one disc case). The case in the picture has a hole to insert the lock but the other cases that 88 have used do not have that hole to insert the lock. Can anyone that owns The Mighty Peking Man check and see if their case has that hole. But, it is interesting then that they would have changed cases for that one release or maybe they were going to offer MPM through retailers that might use that kind of lock??? Though, if I remember correctly, the pictures that were on their website for MPM showed the case, but there was no cut-out. Maybe there was an error when they had them printed up.

But, thanks for helping to clarify the situation. But, it is interesting to see what happened as to why they chose to use that kind of case instead of the one shown on their site.

I've never saw that either, but I'm not a great buyer of blu rays and this case looks like a blu ray one.

All the 88 movies I have have a 2 discs case on the same side of the case and this kind of lock wouldn't fit this kind of case, in my opinion...

Here in the USA, a long long time ago (before BD), these were mainly used by video rental stores (Blockbuster, Hollywood video & the likes). They were placed on the "used" movies & video games they put out for sale - so people don't open & steal the disc and leave an empty case. This is the first time I am seeing it on a BD case.

Masked Avengers has arrived in the mail today. Booklet, slipcover, Bey Logan commentary, trailer (non theatrical) and interview with Godfrey Ho. The interview with Godfrey was not long enough but there were some nice little nuggets of information contained within. Liked his story about why Bruce Lee did not sign up with Shaw Brothers. And, he also talked about the rift between Shaws and Chen Kuan-tai regarding money and the contract they had. Pretty solid release from 88 Films but I wish that they would try to get the original theatrical trailers instead of those made-for-home-video ones that are featured.

Yes, I watched it too and, from what I heard (as everybody here knows, now, it's easier for me to read English than to hear it), it seems to me that Bruce Lee refused to sign at Shaws' because Chang Cheh didn't want to use him as the number one actor and no one else...

And the comment on Chen Kuan Tai was a new information for me too.

I would ideally love for Bewitched to be one of the upcoming titles, and of course Boxer's Omen for the fantasy/horror side of things. As for martial arts, how about The Black Tavern?

I bought a BD here, as recently as last year, and it used that kind of tag. But we also tend to use the other kinds. Though, half of the time, when buying DVDs/BDs, the store staff forget to unlock the tags.

Black Tavern would be awesome but has it received a HD upgrade yet? More than likely, we are going to get more of the titles that have already seen a wider release and are more well known.

Thinking the same thing too - the better known movies which had a previous wider release.

On the martial arts side we already have 2 Venoms movies (3 if you count 5EN), so hoping to see a change with a Ti Lung or a Fu Sheng movie. Would be nice if they give us Gang Master.

Can you imagine the combination of Chang's homoeroticism and Bruce's narcissm? Boy, that would have been something to see!

I just received the SEEDING OF A GHOST blu-ray and I am 99.9% sure that my disc is in Cantonese. It was unavailable for a little while, so my guess is that 88 Films fixed the audio when a new pressing was needed. I was quite surprised.

I bought it earlier and like everyone received the Mandarin track, so I wonder is there any way of getting this proper Cantonese version from 88 without having to buy it again? After all, it was advertised to contain the Cantonese track so the ethical thing for them would be to reimburse those of us who still want it.

Since they have made no mention of the fix, I doubt they are planning a replacement program. A small company like 88 may not be able to take the hit of shipping out discs to all the original buyers, but you never know.

I sincerely hope for a Black Tavern Blu from them. It's easily one of my favorite films from SB. It's heavily rumored that one of the releases is going to be Avenging Eagle. I hope that's true because that is also one of my favorites.

If that is case, hopefully Eagle is uncut. Not much reason forking out money from piggybank for cut film. I would take in fact over Black Tavern although BT is decent also.

I'd be surprised if they got Avenging Eagle, that's with Dragon Dynasty. Where are these heavy rumours?

Licences sometimes expire, when company buys rights it`s not always to last forever..

Plus it`s very likely DD did not buy global licence, just north-america&canada.

I really do not have any faith that 88 Films could provide us with an uncut Avenging Eagle. Well, they might be doing great work in the Italian horror genre, etc, but their Shaw titles have just been using the masters that Celestial have provided. They did mess up the audio for Seeding of a Ghost, I think it was. They are certainly no TVP! So, though AE is one of the most popular titles, it really should not receive a blu-ray release unless it is uncut. Or, worse, locate a theatrical print and transfer it to 2 or 4k and include it as a bonus. If they do get the rights to it, I`m not going to be the guinea pig.

Agreed, 1 minute of footage missing at critical part of film is too much for purchase even as movie is really good.

"88 Asia kicks into overdrive with our next two classics!

Danny Lee (THE KILLER) played one of cinema's most unlikely superheroes in THE OILY MANIAC (1976) - a Shaw Brothers creature-feature classic that is only now gaining a much-deserved premiere in the UK! In this gooey gem of a monster-mash, Lee plays a Hong Kong everyman who has been crippled and is down-on-his-luck - that is, until he learns of a spell that can turn him into a transformative and transmorphing pile of ferocious but malevolent mush. Yes, he is THE OILY MANIAC - and in this Cantonese predecessor to Troma's THE TOXIC AVENGER, he is able to appear and re-appear at will, making it all the more tricky for his arch-enemies to dillute his delirious brilliance. Directed by the prolific Meng Hua Ho (THE FLYING GULLOTINE), this is one Far Eastern B-movie masterpiece that deserves to be seen and appreciated in full HD!

Next up...

Director Meng Hua Ho (THE BLACK ENFORCER/ THE OILY MANIAC) crafted one of the most important and influential kung-fu films of all time with the 1975's THE FLYING GULLOTINE. Inspiring later directors all across the Asian straits (including the celebrated Taiwanese spin-off MASTER OF THE FLYING GULLOTINE), this original model is as brutal, bloody and bombastic as they come! Headlining the legendary Kuan Tai Chen (THE MASTER/ HERO OF SHANGHAI) in his defining role as an enforcer with a unique and deadly weapon - this period-set bout of beheading and plasma-spillage remains one of the greatest martial arts movies ever made. Fans of classic chopsocky action have been begging for THE FLYING GULLOTINE to return to British shelves, and thanks to the 88 Asia collection it is back in action - restored and remastered in HD!

Extras - commentaries by Bey Logan, booklets by Asia-based academic Calum Waddell and, yes, we might just offer a slipcover."

Oily maniac as we are aware was not surprise but disappointed with Flying Guillotine. It`s fine movie but will stick with IVL.

It looks like they are releasing "The Flying Guillotine" which is also with DD.

Completely agree, this movie needs to be release on BD uncut.
