Kwon Bob: Chinatown (2015) Super Kicker Won Jin Returns to the Screen!

Recommended Posts

The guys over at cityonfire have reported on an upcoming Korean martial arts movie, 'Kwon Bob: Chinatown', which marks the directorial debut of choreographer Park Sang-hyun.

The story, being pitched as Korea's return to martial arts film making, concerns a detective trying to take down a Chinese gang, who also happen to be martial arts experts....sounds good to me!

For martial arts fans, the inclusion of Won Jin will no doubt be enough to generate some anticipation. Most famous for his character Sonny in Lau Kar Leungs 'Operation Scorpio / The Scorpion King', Jin had a brief but bright career in Hong Kong, also featuring in the likes of 'Women on the Run' and 'China Strike Force'.

Hopefully a trailer should be out soon!

How come there's still no official trailer or any release info? Meanwhile the whole movie is already floating around the net...

Hi laagi, this was a very low budget effort which was shot in just a couple of weeks in 2014.  Won Jin was involved with the production because several of his students are also in the movie.  When I say low budget, I mean so low that they didn't even consider it worth cutting a trailer for, nor has it received an official release in its native Korea or any other territory.  I'll be posting a lengthier piece about this movie in the next couple of weeks over at cityonfire.com, shall let you know once it's up, but for now the above is essentially the 'in a nutshell' version.

Thanks for this info OAB. I was totally unaware of this to be honest. One must assume it will be very difficult to obtain this movie on DVD or Blu-Ray? Especially a english subbed version I guess. Anyway, looking forward to your detailed review. Thanks!
