His mother anyways, is supposed to be quite famous for her martial arts skills.

Donnie Yen's mother, Bow-sim Mark, was the inspiration for "Iris Fang - a mysterious female martial arts master" in The Silent Girl (2011), book 9 in the Rizzoli and Isles novel series (set in Boston) by Tess Gerritsen.  Tess Gerritsen said "The story was inspired by my mother's tales of growing up in China, tales of ghosts and mysterious martial arts masters and, yes, the heroic Monkey King."

There is a picture of Tess Gerritsen (in the middle) with Donnie's sister Chris Yen holding Tess Gerritsen's book on Chris Yen's Facebook page -

Thanks for sharing it, while i've worked with Donnie on a couple of his recent projects, we hadn't had the chance to do a proper interview for ages so in between shoots on MULAN we did this one....much more to come from the Yen'ster!

Anyone know who Donnie Yen is reffering to in this recent Instagram post?

Most likely Nicholas Tse. Tse went to Hong Kong from the Mainland last week to work on the movie.
