    Brandon Lee - The Crow

Wow, this is another blast from the past. I bought this issue back in high school. I so miss the days when magazines were less than $6...

    Loved Ones Lost

My deepest condolences to you and your family for recent your losses. You know that I lost my father back in May and like your father, he was a Vietnam Veteran and he suffered from diabetes and other maladies as well, due in part to Agent Orange exposure. I'm not going to lie to you, I am still struggling every day trying to cope with my father's passing but having the support of my mom, my brother and other close friends has helped considerably. I know that processing grief and living with the pain takes time but I wish you comfort and wellness on this most difficult journey...

    Marathon Man (USA, 1976)

Great movie. Sir Laurence Olivier was pure evil as Nazi doctor Christian Szell. This is one of the few movies that I liked better than the original novel.

    My Father...

Early this morning, my father passed away at home... My father's health has declined considerably over the past 4 years and much of my time has been spent taking care of him and although I've been trying to mentally prepare myself for this inevitable conclusion, it seems you can't really prepare to lose a loved one. He meant everything to me and he was there for me my entire life. I'm trying my best to be strong for my family as they will need me to be but my heart is truly broken. I've mentioned it here a few times but for those who don't know, it is because of my father that I love martial arts movies. He enjoyed them and I enjoyed watching many of them with him for years, from those early days when we rented them on VHS at the video store, watching them on Saturday and Sunday afternoons on TV, to buying DVDs and it was one of the many things that we bonded over. He was a big fan of Bruce Lee, Sonny Chiba, Hwang Jang Lee, and although he wasn't the biggest fan of Shaw Bros stuff, he loved 5 Element Ninjas. Many of my favorite memories are of watching martial arts movies with my father. I'm not a religious man or very spiritual but I welcome all prayers, well wishes, alpha waves, and positive thoughts. The road ahead is going to be a very difficult one and I'm not sure what the future holds but I hope to find and maintain the strength to move on with my life without my father in it, whom I will miss forever...

    My Father...

Thank you everyone. You have no idea how much I appreciate all the positive wishes, condolences, and your personal stories. I don't have many places on the web that I would call, "home" but this place to me is. For those who don't know I'm a holdover from back in the Kung Fu Cinema days when the late great Linn Hayes was there and before that I was part of the KFSS (Kung Fu Super Stars) Yahoo group. I never really was the most prominent poster but I was always so impressed with the wealth of knowledge and love of martial arts movies possessed by all of the wonderful people whom frequent here and I've learned so much from all of you. I'm trying to take it one day at a time and hopefully with time the pain will lessen and I just wanted to let you all know from the bottom of my heart, that I appreciate everything said here. Again, thank you...

Bruce Lee's The Big Boss (Appreciation Thread)

This bastard...Boss Mi's manager of the ice factory. I always hated that he didn't get a taste of Cheng Chao An's Fists Of Fury! He should've gone down like the rest of his goons...

Temple Of The Unknown: The Game Of Death Appreciation Thread

Ah, I see. It would've been cool if that New Territories fight was not part of Game Of Death and instead going to be part of the Winstons commercial. That way, the footage would've had a better chance of surviving. From what I recall but I could be wrong, I read somewhere that the New Territories fight with Bruce Lee versus the karatekas was actually filmed but the film got too degraded and ultimately lost to the ravages of time, like the fight between Dan Inosanto and Chieh Yuen and other lost scenes that were filmed for Game Of Death. All that remains that those scenes ever existed are the many photos taken when they originally filmed...

Temple Of The Unknown: The Game Of Death Appreciation Thread

I'm thinking that all those pictures were taken all in the same day. Bruce Lee kept a very full schedule so it wouldn't be unusual for a man like him to go from doing a TV commercial to working on Game Of Death without a change in wardrobe. All the things he was able to accomplish in a 24-hour period is just another testament to his incredible work ethic...

What are your latest DVD/Blu-ray purchases?

HOLLOW POINT is a great movie. It's another one of those movies that flew under the radar and didn't get much fanfare but it had a great cast and a great story.

Looks like a match to me. I'm thinking the photos of Lee with the Mercedes were probably taken the same day and in the same place as the GOD photos in the New Territories...

Temple Of The Unknown: The Game Of Death Appreciation Thread

I don't think I'll ever be satisfied seeing someone else playing the characters Bruce Lee or anyone else originated. If it's to be done, I would rather see it done as an anime. Something on the more realistic side and not over-stylized or over the top.
  19. Ugh. Just unconvincing. Another fail. Just because he has clown makeup on his face and greenish hair does not make him The Joker...

    Predator Remake / Reboot

I love the Predator franchise but I'm sorry to say that I will not be watching this film for a second time. I found this to be very disappointing. I had many problems with the film, most noteworthy is all the humor. There was way too much of it. Everybody's a smart-ass. This movie was too laid back, too relaxed. It lacked the dark mood, intensity and sense of impending danger that has made the Predator movies great to watch. It seems nothing was taken seriously here. The formula used to make this film is pretty much the same one used with movies based on comic books particularly from Marvel, but it just does not work here. The cast choices were uneven at best. I had a hard time finding any of them likable or convincing in their roles. At this point I would've loved it if the Predators had slaughtered the entire cast and left no one alive. I wish I could get the 107 minutes of my life that I wasted back from watching it and the money I spent but once again with new movies, I gambled and lost...
  23. On the far right is Taimak, star of The Last Dragon and between him and Michael Jai White is Fred Williamson.

Missing In Action: Bruce Lee's Deleted Movie Scene's

Wow, I never saw those before. Could that last pic be part of an unused or cut scene of Mei Ling fighting Han's guards? We all know that after she left Han's side when Roper and Bolo were about to fight, she went and freed those prisoners that were held in the underground base. It would make sense that she would've had to take out any guys that were guarding them to get the keys so she could release them. That would've been nice to see instead of just seeing Mei Ling freeing the prisoners while the Roper/Bolo fight was happening...
  25. My father still watches Cheyenne everyday. It was one of his favorite shows growing up too. We watched it together on many occasions. RIP Clint Walker
