For those unaware, the launch of 36STYLES.COM is coming next week! This means we will be moving the forum to its new home. The new link to the forum will be https://www.36styles.com/kungfufandom ... bookmark it now!

The site as a whole, including the forum, will be down on Monday, March 2. To minimize the forum downtime, I plan on bringing the forum back online, even before implementing the new features, as setting these up will probably take some time. I will send out an email to all registered members once the forum is back up.

Some exciting times are ahead for KUNG FU FANDOM!

    DVD player broke.....

I've seen those. I just worry if it's defective, it's going to be a royal PIA to return it. What DVD players is everyone else using?

    DVD player broke.....

Well, I looked and I can't find the additional DVD player I had so that's now gone...great. I'm online checking out the DVDs and the hacks info and I'm getting a little frustrated with the negative posts saying that the codes don't actually work for some. Looked at the GPX D200B last at Walmart. Just to put this out there, can anyone recommend a DVD player that plays their Region 3 and all other disks? I've looked on ebay too but if I can't get it to work, I have to pay to send it back. I work out of state so this will take my Friday night for the box and my Saturday morning to actually return it and I'll have to pay for the return shipping. God, this is just what I wanted to avoid. Should I just get the Walmart DVD player and hope it'll work? Just trying to avoid a dud, recommendations appreciated....Thanks...

    DVD player broke.....

Thank you for the link and the suggestions. I really PO'd at this point because I bought a second one to keep on hand for just this time and now I've spent good money for a brand new DVD player to use when this one died and it's no where to be found. Not done looking....thank you for the replies. Can't wait to play my Alex Fu Sheng again.....

    DVD player broke.....

Broke yesterday and the other that I had bought, a Philips player that I programmed to play all regional DVD, is missing and naturally we don't know where it is. So I have all my Alex Fu Sheng DVDs and others that only play Region 3 and I've no idea where to get another. I want something that plays all my HK DVDs. Can anyone help recommend a good affordable player? I don't need Blue ray, I just want to play my HK films. Laura

    A Better Tomorrow 3 (1989) - Underrated?

This is one of my favorite films with Anita. She was awesome, I loved the gun scenes, they're both great actors and the movie was done well. Except the final scene between Chow, Anita and the ex-boyfriend. Should have shot him dead and then booked it.... Laura
  7. "HOH" is hard of hearing. I'm deaf...or damn close to it. I have a Toshiba Tube TV that I was planning to replace with a Samsung model: UFN0F6300. I did a live chat with Sears and asked a simple question, "Does this TV come with captioning for the deaf." Much to my shock, no. I was directed to a TV that cost over a thousand which isn't what I wanted. This model was $699.99. He then directed me to a similar TV, also a 40" but with 3D for $799.99. I don't know. What I want: 1. HDTV 2. Good sound, picture, reliable, easy to use. 3. stream movies from Netflix, YouTube, etc. 4. Closed Captions for the Deaf 5. Plays my Hong Kong movies without cutting out the subtitles. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I was looking at LG but in our condo, everything from that company has broken so my father advises a Samsung. This would be for my bedroom - prefer under a thousand and no more than 46" at max. Thank you in advance. Laura
  8. I liked Carina Lau in the first film - I hope she gets more screen time in the second....I really don't get the buzz about 3D, never cared for that myself.... Laura
  9. I'm disappointed it's not a sequel too...I was hoping to see Carina Lau back in the role. She was awesome as the Empress.

    A Bittersweet Life (2005)

I bought this off of Ebay too because it was impossible to find anywhere else. Back in the day when I was able to rent Hong Kong films through the mail, I saw this and absolutely fell in love with it. It's still one of my favorites in my collection. Laura

Films that you hated that you now love?

"Bruce Lee: His Last Days, His Last Nights." When I got older, I was able to fully appreciate how cute Danny Lee was in his early career. Laura
  12. At the moment, I'm considering buying To's Drug Wars and possibly Wong Kar Wai's Grandmaster. Laura

    I Saw The Devil (2011)

The movie fell flat for me as well, but then not a lot of women enjoy watching rape scenes and torture..... Laura

    RIP Jerry Poteet (1936-2012)

I didn't catch any news stories about his passing. Any online obituraries? You'd think there would be a news story somewhere dedicated to him given his place in Jeet Kune Do.....sad for the community. Now no one is really left that teaches the true art as Bruce taught it. Laura
