  1. I did a couple of written articles for my blog a couple of years ago about the evolution of women in Martial Arts. https://cinematichorizons.wordpress.com/2014/01/06/fists-of-doom-and-god-created-angela-mao/ https://cinematichorizons.wordpress.com/2014/01/09/fists-of-doom-sammos-angels/
  2. I quite liked this, Sammo's version of Man on Fire. He delivers a really affecting performance, it's not wall to wall fights but what there is, is pretty damn good. Andy Lau as a shiftless loser was an interesting change of pace.
  3. I honestly thought Raging Phoenix was great, her fight with the villainess was terrifically brutal.
  4. They certainly didn't waste any time, who is he going to fight next? Bruce Lee's ghost?
  5. Jackie got the surprise of his life when, at a tribute for him, he was reunited with the original members of his stunt crew. So many emotions. http://www.sunnyskyz.com/happy-videos/5652/Jackie-Chan-Hasn-t-Seen-His-Original-Stunt-Team-In-Decades-Then-Realizes-They-re-All-Standing-Behind-Him#ByPVIaIZHEbuGoex.01
  6. Book of Heroes still remains my favorite Yukari movie, it also has a 10 year old beating up five men and smashing a bottle over one guy's head.
  7. That is some crazy ass hair she's sporting, why do they always get some out of shape guy off the street to be her punching bag.
  8. This has always been a favorite of mine, Yukari and Kara make a fun team, this also has Yukari dress up like a fifties greaser to sexually harass a young woman. /url]
  9. Apologies if this already exists, I searched for one but could not find it. A couple of years ago I did a piece on my blog about this curious sub-genre, I've always loved this genre, the films were never that great but the actresses were game usually rose above the material through sheer personality. Yukari Oshima. Moon Lee. Michiko Nishiwaki. Cynthia Khan. Kara Hui Ying Fong. Let this thread be a memorial to those women who briefly lit a fire. For those interested, that piece can be seen here https://cinematichorizons.wordpress.com/2014/01/09/fists-of-doom-sammos-angels/

    Blade of the Immortal (2017)

I'm a huge fan of the manga so I'm looking forward to this.

Wild City (2015) - Ringo Lam, Louis Koo

It was a pretty solid action movie, I thought but mostly due to Lam's directing, the plot was pretty standard but Lam managed to inject some interesting commentary on the length's people will go to for greed.
  12. Redeemer was a simple but effective martial arts film, the Noah Segan drug kingpin scenes really should've been deleted though.
  13. Dorothy B Hughes The Cross-Eyed Bear Murders, it's not bad, it has an interesting heroine.
  14. This reminds me of Swordsman 2, I initially dismissed it as fantasy nonsense but I realised that there was alot more going on under the surface in regards to issues of gender and politics. You realise at the end, they just replaced one despot with another.
  15. Flying Swords of Dragon Gate was visually amazing, probably Hark's best looking film in ages. It's too bad they only have the dubbed version on Netflix because good lord, it's some of the worst dubbing I've heard since the seventies boom.
