*TV listings are as fluid as a tai chi fighter and may change without notice. Channels may also vary schedules by region. Movie titles and dates are based on the channel listings and usually reflect US release versions. The scriptures say “the wise man always checks local listings”.
This week we are saying goodbye to 2016, but not to the action! As always, there is plenty of WALKER, TEXAS RANGER. WGN has three episodes Monday through Thursday mornings starting at 9:00 AM. Inspiration brings it Monday through Thursday at 9:00 and 10:00 PM, Tuesday through Saturday morning at 3:00 AM, Friday at 10:00 PM and Sunday at 8:00 and 9:00 PM. Not enough? Grit has it every night of the week at 7:00, 8:00, 9:00 and 10:00 PM with a 5:00 AM airing on Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Depending on where you are, college football might interrupt WALKER on Grit. Need more TV action? AMC is running the entire first season of INTO THE BADLANDS Friday starting at 5:00 PM.
Movies get a relatively late start Monday with a 6:30 AM airing of 6 BULLETS (2012) on Sony. HDNet Movie jumps in at 1:00 PM with DRAGONBALL EVOLUTION (2009) and a little later in the day MGM breaks out some Chuck Norris flicks with BREAKER! BREAKER! (1977) at 6:30 PM and CODE OF SILENCE (1985) at 10:00PM. HDNet Movie is showing the original KICKBOXER (1989) at 11:30 and Sony has back to back Seagal flicks with FLIGHT OF FURY (2007) at 10:00 PM and THE FOREIGNER (2003) at 11:40 PM.
Tuesday starts of with re-airings of FLIGHT OF FURY at 1:20 AM and THE FOREIGNER at 3:00 AM, both on Sony. At 3:30 AM Grit has BEST OF THE BEST II (1993) and then Sony is showing ARENA (2011) at 7:55 AM. HDNet Movie is showing KICKBOXER again at 12:05 PM and the day draws to a close with BILLY JACK (1971) on Sony at 8:00 PM. You can sleep in on Wednesday because there aren’t any movies until 1:00 PM when Spike has THE EXPENDABLES (2010) and Grit shows THE FOREIGNER. Sony has BILLY JACK again at 2:10 PM and Grit is airing THE FOREIGNER 2 (2005) at 3:00 PM. 3:30 PM brings BLOODSPORT 4: THE DARK KUMITE (1998) on El Rey and the day ends with THE EXPENDABLES (2010) at 10:30 PM on Spike.
Another late start on Thursday when Turner Classic Movies has BAD DAY AT BLACK ROCK (1954) at noon. IFC has BLADE: TRINITY (2004) at 12:15 PM. El Rey gets its normal Thursday martial arts movies going at 4:00 PM with THE BIG BOSS (1971), followed by HOUSE OF TRAPS (1982) at 6:00 PM and FIST OF FURY (1972) at 8:00 PM. Get TV has BILLY JACK at 8:00 PM as well. 10:00 PM brings WAY OF THE DRAGON (1972) on El Rey and TRIAL OF BILLY JACK (1974) ends the days on Get TV at 10:50 PM. Friday starts at midnight with GAME OF DEATH (1978) on El Rey. Despite its many faults, I will always love GAME OF DEATH because it is the only Bruce Lee movie that I remember coming out… I was a baby for most of them! At 1:00 AM Grit has URBAN JUSTICE (2007), followed by THE BIG BOSS at 2:00 AM on El Rey. Then Grit has FLIGHT OF FURY at 3:00 AM and Grit is showing BILLY JACK GOES TO WASHINGTON (1977) at 3:05 AM. El Rey has WAY OF THE DRAGON at 4:00 AM and the day ends really early with DRAGONBALL EVOLUTION on HDNet Movie at 11:00 AM.
Saturday is kind of a light day with 6 BULLETS (2012) on Sony at 7:40 AM. Grit has UNIVERSAL SOLDIER: THE RETURN (1999) at 1:00 PM followed immediately by UNIVERSAL SOLDIER III: UNFINISHED BUSINESS (1998) at 3:00 PM. Grit offers up the only other movie of the day when they show INTO THE SUN (2005) at 11:00 PM. Sunday isn’t much better. Sony has THE NEXT KARATE KID (1994) at 11:45 AM, FXM takes a turn with DRAGONBALL EVOLUTION at 11:00 PM and Get, also at 11:00 PM, shows the original UNIVERSAL SOLDIER (1992) to close out the first day of 2017 and the week!
