What’s On TV This Week (August 13 – August 20)

*TV listings are as fluid as a tai chi fighter and may change without notice. Channels may also vary schedules by region. Movie titles and dates are based on the channel listings and usually reflect US release versions. The scriptures say “the wise man always checks local listings”.
Okay! Let’s get into it. First up (as always) is WALKER, TEXAS RANGER. This show is on so much it really should just have its own channel! WGN has it at 9:00 AM Monday through Thursday this week, then Grit TV is showing it every weekday at 11:00 AM and every night of the week at 7:008:009:00 and 10:00 PMTuesday through Saturday they also slip in a couple episodes at 1:00 and 2:00 AMTuesday through Friday Inspiration shows early morning episodes at 2:00 and 3:00 AM (just 3:00 AM on Saturday). They also show WALKER at 9:00 PM weeknights and at 8:00 and 9:00 PM Sunday.

Monday

Movies start a little slow on Monday with TNT showing THE EXPENDABLES (2010) at 5:00 PM and THE EXPENDABLES 2 (2012) at 7:00 PM. El Rey finishes out the day with ROMEO MUST DIE (2000) at 8:00 PM and RUMBLE IN THE BRONX (1995) at 10:30 PM.

TUESDAY

August 15, 2017
If you prefer more of the classic style martial arts movies Tuesday has you covered. The day starts at midnight, though, with the modern martial comedy HERE COMES THE BOOM (2012) on FXX, followed by a repeat of ROMEO MUST DIE on El Rey. Get TV has URBAN JUSTICE (2007) at 1:05 AM before El Rey re-shows RUMBLE IN THE BRONX at 3:00 AM. The day picks up again at 3:30 PM with FXX re-showing HERE COMES THE BOOM. El Rey then brings you some classic stuff with SHAOLIN MANTIS (1978) at 4:00 PM, MARTIAL ARTS OF SHAOLIN (1986) at 6:00 PM, SWORD OF SWORDS (1968) at 8:00 PM and THE DRAGON MISSILE (1976) at 10:30 PM. Get TV ends the day with a repeat of URBAN JUSTICE at 11:00 PM.

WEDNESDAY

August 16, 2017
Wednesday starts at midnight with repeats of SHAOLIN MANTIS, SWORD OF SWORDS at 2:00 AMTHE DRAGON MISSILE at 4:30 AM. Sony has BILLY JACK (1971) at 3:55 PM right before El Rey shows UNIVERSAL SOLDIER (1992) at 4:00 PM. The day ends early with THE MASTER GUNFIGHTER (1974) on Sony at 6:00 PM.

August 17, 2017

Thursday just sees ROMEO MUST DIE at 10:00 PM on El Rey.

FRIDAY

August 18, 2017

Friday kicks off early with RUMBLE IN THE BRONX at 12:30 AM on El Rey. SyFy has BLADE (1998) at 3:30 PM (and again at 11:00 PM) and Sony finishes off the day with a double shot of the original THE KARATE KID (1984) at 8:00 and 10:15 PM.

SATURDAY

August 19, 2017

Saturday sees Get TV showing URBAN JUSTICE again at 4:00 AM. Spike offers up RUSH HOUR (1998) at 9:00 AM and then Sony has THE TRIAL OF BILLY JACK (1974) at 9:05 AM. El Rey takes over for a bit with UNIVERSAL SOLDIERat 10:00 AM, ROMEO MUST DIE at noon and RUMBLE IN THE BRONX at 2:30 PM and again at 7:00 PM. Sony has THE KARATE KID PART II (1986) at 8:00 PM, Spike shows RUSH HOUR again at 10:30 PM and El Rey ends the day with another airing of ROMEO MUST DIE at 11:00 PM.

SUNDAY

August 20, 2017

Sunday is busy. TNT has THE EXPENDABLES 2 (2012) at 1:00 AM to start. El Rey picks up the day with FIVE ELEMENTS NINJAS (1982) at 10:00 AM. Sony offers up the original THE KARATE KID again at 11:45 AM before noonbrings THE EXPENDABLES 2 on TNT and FIVE FINGERS OF DEATH (1973) on El Rey. 2:00 PM sees VENGEANCE (1970) on El Rey and THE KARATE KID PART II (1986) on Sony. 4:00 PM brings THE AVENGING EAGLE (1978) El Rey, then Sony has THE KARATE KID PART III (1989) at 4:05 PM. At 6:00 PMEl Rey is showing CHALLENGE OF THE MASTERS (1976) (a personal favorite) and Sony has THE NEXT KARATE KID (1994) Sony at 6:05 PM. They finish off the week with re-showings of the original THE KARATE KID at 8:00 PMand THE KARATE KID PART II at 10:15 PM.
