36th Chamber of Shaolin – “Rings” [Muscle]

We kung fu movie fans can never get enough of action actor Gordon Liu (aka. Liu Chia-Hui, Lau Kar-Fei), nor his starring role in the Hong Kong classic THE 36TH CHAMBER OF SHAOLIN (1978, aka. THE MASTER KILLER). He starts out as a young, impressionable student, horrified by the cruelty of his people's Manchu oppressors, but after arriving at the Shaolin temple and undergoing tremendous hardships and grueling training, he becomes a kung fu master and hero to the downtrodden. The training sequences in this film are as imaginative and as exciting as the actual kung fu fights, and the fact that the film's director, Lau Kar-Leung (aka. Liu Chia-Liang, 'Pops') is a real-life master of the style depicted in the movie ensures that the Hung Gar style is presented properly, and with great passion. - Kung Fu Bob
Gildan (2700) 6 oz. 100% cotton. Preshrunk jersey knit. Seamless double-needle 7/8" collar. Double-needle armhole and bottom hems.
This design depicts the famous opening sequence from the film as monk San-te, utilizing the famous steel rings (for strength training), performs the movements of the Hung Fist kung fu style. I carefully chose what I felt were the most dynamic moments from the scene, and composed them within their own 'training ring' with the intention of evoking the power and beauty of the martial art. This is a 1 color design in white.
